Treasures of Chatuchak Market: A Review of Vintage Finds in Thailand
Thailand's enormous Chatuchak Market is divided into two main parts. On one side is the market itself, selling not only vintage items but also regular new goods, food, fruit, and jewelry. However, the most interesting part is its vintage section, located opposite.
Thailand's enormous Chatuchak Market is divided into two main parts. On one side is the market itself, selling not only vintage items but also regular new goods, food, fruit, and jewelry. However, the most interesting part is its vintage section, located opposite.
Vintage stalls are located both on the street, around a specialized shopping center, and inside it on several floors. This area is a concentrated space for antique lovers, where you can find a wide variety of items.
Street Stalls: First Finds and Prices
A walk through the street stalls immediately delights with finds. Japanese beaded bags catch the eye, but the price of 600 baht seems inflated, as similar ones can be found in Japanese second-hand shops for 250 baht. Nearby, you can spot an elegant silver-plated bottle holder.
One vendor offers many trinket boxes: made of alabaster and porcelain, including a miniature one resembling a pillbox. There's also a single candelabra for three candles, although such items are better bought in pairs. Overall, the street selection is decent, but the most interesting things await inside the shopping center.

First Floor: From Baccarat Crystal to a Scatter of Costume Jewelry
Inside the shopping center, an entire collection of Baccarat crystal is laid out directly on the floor on a simple sheet. This unusual placement of valuable items is initially shocking, but it's not uncommon for Asian markets. Despite the presentation method, the items themselves are very beautiful.

European Porcelain and Murano Glass
The first floor also features a rich selection of European porcelain. A Villeroy & Boch dinner service from the 'Summertime' collection catches the eye, and next to it is another set from the same brand with a blue pattern. Here you can find complete sets, not just individual pieces.
Showcases with Murano glass draw special attention. The assortment is striking in its variety: glasses, vases, and decanters of all shapes and colors. However, the prices for these items cannot be called low. For example, a Murano glass sugar bowl costs 2500 baht, which is significantly more expensive than similar items in Japanese second-hand shops.

Second Floor: Ethnic Jewelry and Antique Silver
The abundance of vintage goods continues on the second floor. Here you can find python skin wallets, Asian coin purses, and beaded bags, but their prices are quite high. The showcases display jewelry with natural stones, ethnic bracelets, and necklaces.
You can also find entire collections, such as Limoges porcelain boxes. This distinguishes Chatuchak from ordinary flea markets, where goods are most often presented haphazardly. Here you can also find silverware at quite reasonable prices: for example, a silver-plated napkin holder costs 500 baht. One showcase features an entire set of silver-plated antiques polished to a shine.

Third Floor: The Kingdom of Vintage Costume Jewelry
The third floor of the shopping center is a true paradise for lovers of vintage jewelry. Everything here is perfectly arranged and sorted. On the counters, you can see massive rings, designer bracelets, and exquisite clip-on earrings, many of which are adorned with natural stones.
The displays where brooches are exhibited in frames, like works of art, are particularly impressive. Unlike many other vendors at the market, most items here have price tags. Prices for clip-on earrings, for example, start at 350 baht. The selection is huge: from bright acrylic jewelry to elegant vintage pieces.
